E! Interview with Harry Shum Jr.
Glee's Harry Shum Jr. Talks Rachel-Finn Breakup Backlash and a Possible Mike-Brittany Pairing
Fear not, Finnchel fans! The producers and cast have heard your howls of woe in response to last week's big breakup between Rachel Berry (Lea Michele) and Finn (Cory Monteith). I just chatted with Mike Chang himself, aka the extremely cool Harry Shum Jr., and he says, "[Executive producer] Brad Falchuk, when we were filming, came up to me and was like 'Wow, we're getting hit really hard right now—people are going nuts over it.' " So what's next for Finn and Rachel, not to mention Mike Chang and his lady Tina Cohen-Chang (Jenna Ushkowitz)? Here's what Harry spilled on showmances, the Super Bowl episode and how he got his supersexy abs:
As far as the Finnchel breakup goes, Harry tells me that with those two apart, "At least some fans get Puckleberry for a little bit right? Maybe? Maybe Puckleberry? Maybe I don't know, it might happen, it's a possibility." (How do you guys feel about that? Yea or nay?)
What about Mike Chang's own relationship? Are things steady with Tina, or might she be making eyes at another New Directions fella? Says Harry, "Things could always resurface, especially in high school...in the last episode where Artie (Kevin McHale) and Tina start seeing one little wrong look, they start thinking, 'OK, what's going on? What's going on? Are they back together?' and you know anything can happen."
And if Tina and Mike do break up, Harry'd be interested in exploring things with Heather Morris' Brittany, saying, "Everyone's rooting for Brittany. Mike and Brittany...I think it's great. They make great dance partners and you haven't really seen them, their relationship outside of that."

Speaking of dance, we'll see Mike Chang's dancing feet at work in the Super Bowl episode! I asked about the possible "Thriller" performance and he played coy, saying only "maybe" when I asked if he'd ever done any Michael Jackson moves—but he did promise, "The scenes are going to be Super Bowl epic. We're doing some crazy stuff...Yesterday we worked a good 16-, 17-hour day. We were going hard, and it's going to be a really awesome fun episode...we're doing some awesome musical numbers."
Last but not least, how did he get those marvelous abs we've seen on the show and in Yellow magazine? Says Shum, "I went on YouTube and put in 'ab workout,' and I looked for the best ones, the ones that had millions of hits, and I was like, I think I'm going to do that for like a couple weeks. See how that works out."

Guess who's gonna be a regular on Glee now?
Glee fans have been asking for a while now whether a certain fan-favorite guest star will be promoted to series regular, and I just got the good news that he will! So who is it?
Reliable sources confirm that Harry Shum Jr.— also known as Mike Chang, also known as the hot "Other Asian" dancer with abs of steel—will become a series regular next season.
What this means is that yes, we'll be getting more ridonkulously good dance numbers from Harry (the fans go wild!) but also, sorry Artie, but it looks like your romantic rival might be all smooshy-wooshy with your girl Tina a while longer.
Like Heather Morris (Brittany) and Naya Rivera (Santana) before him, Harry started off in season one as a background player but has moved more into the forefront—scoring his first dancing duet last night with Matthew Morrison (Mr. Schue).

Harry Shum Jr.: Lea Michele is NOT a diva!
Harry did an exclusive interview with Hollywoodlife and he talked about Lea's diva rumors:
Harry is leaping to Lea’s defense in the wake of co-star Amber Riley’s recent criticisms — and there may be drama between two other Glee stars. Find out who!
Reports of bad behavior have been swirling about Glee star Lea Michele pretty much since the series started last year. However, in the wake of fellow castmate Amber Riley’s complaint that she’s “always ordering everyone around”, another co-star, Harry Shum Jr., is swearing up and down that she’s NOT a diva!

"You know, it's all rumors. You see these magazines and they literally fabricate stuff out of nothing, the 28-year-old dancer told HollywoodLife.com exclusively at the Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock event in Los Angeles Sept. 27. "We sit there and laugh at it, we crack jokes about it. You can’t really believe all that you read."
But surely the rumors don’t come out of NOWHERE? Amber, 24, wasn’t provoked to say, "She's always ordering everyone around, demanding a particular outfit or a particular food at the snack table," without reason — right?
"We have a group of people that is drama fee,” Harry insisted. “When we hear about these things, we just laugh it off. It’s all love!"
But who may not be Mclovin each other? We spied Cory Monteith hanging by himself solo at the event, texting up a storm, while Mark Salling, Harry and Ryan Cabrera all palled around separately in a corner. In fact, Mark, 28, brushed right past Cory, also 28, without saying a word!

Harry Shum Jr. talks about GLEE season 2
From hitfix:
Will Season Two of "Glee" be The Season of Mike Chang?
While that scenario may seem unlikely -- Rachel Berry would never let that happen -- Harry Shum Jr. is ready to take a bit more of a place in the spotlight.
Thanks to the show's certified phenomenon status and due in no small part to his extremely approachable Twitter presence (@iharryshum), Shum attracted fan attention that far outstripped anything Mike Chang was doing on "Glee." That doesn't mean that fans weren't noting Shum's "Glee" work. Any time you noticed tremendously athletic dancing going on in the background? That probably featured Shum, whose credits the past two "Step Up" movies, "You Got Served" and "Stomp the Yard."
This season, though, it looks as if Shum is going to get subplots and dialogue and maybe somebody will even let him sing.
I caught up with Shum for a little video time last week and the guy is every bit as likable in person as on Twitter. Note that this interview contains a few spoilers about the Tuesday (Sept. 21) "Glee" premiere. They're not major, but still...
