Mark Salling's 'Pipe Dreams' tracks on 'Glee': 'It'd never happen'

Puck sure knows how to party. Zap2it was invited to "Glee" star Mark Salling's "Pipe Dreams" record release celebration at MyHouse in Hollywood, hosted by Xomad's BBM Lounge.

Salling, sporting Puck's recently missing mohawk again, took to the stage and performed two songs from his new album. But if you want to get a listen, you're going to have to pick up the record, because he definitely won't be performing any of his original songs on "Glee." Ever.

"Never in a million years," Salling laughed when we suggested it. "Just trust me. It'd never happen."

Salling, who has previously released a solo album under the name Jericho, says that the new record isn't much of a departure for him. Like with his first album, he played all the instruments on Pipe Dreams. That doesn't mean that a few things aren't different now that "Glee" has become a cultural phenomenon.

"My music hasn't changed," he says. "It's still the same sound, the same influences. The only thing that's changed, the only thing that there is to be a little nervous about, I guess, is the politics of it all."

None of Salling's fellow Gleeks made it to the party -- we hear that several of them were filming into the night - but celebs like Quentin Aaron from "The Blind Side" and "Dancing With the Stars" Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Karina Smirnoff were in the house, and we had a great time hearing Salling play his own music instead of covering old favorites.

Mark Salling Says The Guys Are Going To Be Power Rangers!

Forget the Rocky Horror Picture Show! This Halloween, the boys from Glee are dressing up to kick butt!

The guys from Glee are no strangers to playing to dress up! We’ve seen them go Gaga, kick it old school with Britney, and we’re dying to see their Rocky Horror Picture Show rendition. But after the racy GQ scandal, Hollywoodlife.com wanted to know how primetime’s favorite guys were going to dress for Halloween and Mark Salling gave us the inside dish on his Glee co-stars’ hilarious costume choices.

“Some of the Glee guys and I thought of going as Power Rangers,” the 28-year-old performer told reporters at his solo album release party at Blackberry’s BBM Lounge in Hollywood Oct. 22. “But I don’t know if that will actually happen.”

We hope it does! Who wouldn’t want to see Puck, Finn, and Mr. Schuester don some spandex and play super heroes for a night? We wonder which five guys of the cast will be banding together with lasers and light beams to stop crime this Halloween.

Mark Salling: GQ 'Glee' Photos Are Not A Big Deal

'There's more important things to worry about in the world,' 'Glee' co-star says.

When "Glee" stars Lea Michele, Corey Monteith and Dianna Agron appeared on the cover of GQ, it immediately caused a frenzy — at least with the Parents Television Council, which said the racy photo spread "borders on pedophilia."

While the three stars play high school students on the hit show, in real life, they are all in their 20s, and "Glee" co-star Mark Salling is coming to their defense, noting that he doesn't see the controversy in the Terry Richardson-shot pics.

"Personally, I think it's not a big deal," Salling said in an interview with 102.7 KIIS FM's JoJo Wright. "Lea is 23 years old and has every right to do that. I mean, come on! We're obviously not in high school. It's tongue-in-cheek that we're in high school. People are starving, [Dallas] Cowboys are losing — there's more important things to worry about in the world."

While Michele and Monteith have both been silent on the matter, Agron blogged about the controversy and apologized to anyone who may have been offended by the shoot. "In the land of Madonna, Britney, Miley, 'Gossip Girl,' other public figures and shows that have pushed the envelope and challenged the levels of comfort in their viewers and fans ... we are not the first," she wrote. "Now, in perpetuating the type of images that evoke these kind of emotions, I am sorry. If you are hurt or these photos make you uncomfortable, it was never our intention."

Mark Salling Talks About Songwriting to Aol Music

Mark Salling (aka Puck on 'Glee') recently talked to Aol Music...

'Glee's Mark Salling takes us through his songwriting process in the third video in AOL's exclusive series. The actor/songwriter has just released his debut album, 'Pipe Dreams.'

Calling his songwriting "personal," Mark says he draws most of his ideas from the past. "I can write what I felt from two or three years ago. I can write in the present, but I draw from the past." While admitting he looks back at himself quite often, he likes to look outside of himself for inspiration. "I tend to write from other people's perspectives ... to see a story that really fascinates me and write it from the perspective of one of the characters." In the end, Mark just wants people to "have a good time" when they're listening to his music.

Mark Salling: I love music and acting

Mark Salling hopes he never has to choose between singing and acting.

The 28-year-old hunk shot to fame playing Puck in the popular television series Glee. He was thrilled to landed the role in the show – which follows a group of high school misfits who love to sing – because it allowed him to combine his two greatest passions. Mark is now preparing to launch his debut album and he hopes he can continue to pursue his music and acting careers.

“Singing and acting are different art forms and I enjoy them both,” Mark told TOTP magazine. “I kind of hope I never have to choose between the two.

“I’ve been interested in music my entire life – it’s kind of all I’ve ever known. I started piano lessons when I was five and it just went from there.”

Mark has revealed he would love to record a song with British singer Amy Winehouse. He also says it would be amazing if the cast of Glee cover one of his tracks one day.

“Amy Winehouse is undeniably amazing. You just can’t help watch her and listen to her,” he explained. “I would be very flattered if my songs ever appeared on Glee! I’m not sure if it will, but I’d be more than willing to accommodate them if they wanted.”

Ask Ausiello: Glee Spoilers!

Question: Season’s greetings! Will there be a Christmas Glee episode? —Ryan
Ausiello: Can’t confirm a Christmas episode. I can tell you that something big happens around the holidays, and it may or may not involve a wedding.

Question: Where is Mark Salling? Is he gone permanently? Is it due to his release of a non-Glee album? You have to know something about this, right?! —Missy
Ausiello: Puck up, Missy! Though I dunno whether his absence is a side effect of his decision work on music that isn’t in the genre of R&Glee, I do know that it’s only temporary. He’ll miss one more episode—the Oct. 26 Rocky Horror Picture Show tribute—but will be back on air in a big way in early November.

'Glee': Mark Salling is still a regular and Puck will be back

The recent "Duets" episode of "Glee" was missing one mohawked bad-boy, but don't worry! Puck (Mark Salling) won't be left to languish in juvie for long.

An online report claims that Salling would not be returning to "Glee" for the forseeable future due to a breach of contract. According to the report, Salling's off-screen music career was interfering with his obligation to "Glee," and he was put on an indefinite hiatus.

Since we bumped into Salling at the "Glee" premiere party and the FOX Fall Kickoff party -- both of which took place after the filming of "Duets" -- we were highly skeptical.

Sources close to Salling and the show assure Zap2it that isn't the case. "It's all incorrect. Of course Mark is still on the show, he just wasn't in that episode."

We're assured that Salling didn't appear in the episode for creative reasons, not contractual trouble. Puck's short absence simply makes room for Sam (Chord Overstreet) to find his place in the "Glee" club -- and to sing his way into the heart of Puck's ex, Quinn (Dianna Agron). It's not uncommon for series regulars to miss a few episodes here and there - Sue (Jane Lynch) and Emma (Jayma Mays) were also missing in action for the episode in question.

Mark Salling (Puck) may be out of Glee for good! (For breaching contract)

Mark Salling was conspicuously missing from Glee Oct. 12 — they shipped him off to ‘juvenile hall’ — and HollywoodLife.com has learned why he’s gone, and why he might not come back.

McKinley High School’s bad boy Puck (played by Mark Salling), was banished to juvenile hall in the first scene of the Oct. 12 episode of Glee — and it looks like neither Puck nor Mark will be on the show for the foreseeable future. A source on the set tells HollywoodLife.com exclusively why Mark, 28, is out.

We’re told that Mark may have breached his contract by pursuing his own music career too aggressively. “Mark has been really focused on his own music and it’s actually gotten in the way of his Glee stuff,” our insider explains.

Mark has been very public about his rock-jazz fusion band, Jericho, which has released two albums, Smoke Signals in 2008 and Pipe Dreams just this month. According to our source, Glee execs are unhappy about Mark putting his music before the TV show — and were willing to axe his character to lay down the law.

Mark doesn’t appear to care. “His band means the world to him and he thinks that’s more important than the show at this point,” the source tells us, adding, “He’s young — and I think his team is giving him bad advice.”

We’re torn on the issue — as much as we love Mark’s commitment to Jericho, we want Puck back on our TVs every Tuesday night!
