Huge Ratings From Last Night's Episode!

Last night's episode, which opened with a Cheerios routine to Katy Perry's summer anthem "California Gurls" and featured a "Thriller"/"Heads Will Roll" mashup at a football halftime show, was the highest-rated scripted series telecast on broadcast in three years. But, Glee barely topped 2009's The Office's post-Super Bowl episode in the demo (11.1 vs. 11.0).

Glee tops the list of most expensive broadcast TV show for advertising!

Advertising Age has just released its annual survey of the average cost of an advertisement on broadcast TV shows, and the results are fascinating brain candy for the TV fetishist. Fox dominates the ad dollars with five of the six most expensive shows on TV. The upcoming Simon Cowell-free season of American Idol ranks at No. 1 with an average of $467,617 for a 30-second spot. While slots 3-6 are taken up by Glee, Family Guy, The Simpsons, and House.

The list makes for interesting reading: check out the complete top ten after the jump. It’s especially fascinating to see the relative old age of all the most expensive shows: Setting aside Glee, the four youngest shows in the top ten are House, The Office, Grey’s Anatomy, and Desperate Housewives, which are all in their seventh seasons.

Here’s the top ten most expensive shows for advertisers:

1. American Idol (Fox), $467, 617 ($400,546 for the results show)

2. Sunday Night Football (NBC), $415,000

3. Glee (Fox), $272,694 ($373,014 in the spring)

4. Family Guy (Fox), $259, 289

5. The Simpsons (Fox) — $253, 170

6. House (Fox), $226, 180

7. Grey’s Anatomy (ABC), $222,113

8. The Office (NBC), $213,617

9. Desperate Housewives (ABC), $210,064

10. Two and a Half Men (CBS), $206,722

TV Ratings: Glee won the night again!

ABC’s rookie No Ordinary Family kept falling, down 12% to a 2.3 adults 18-49 rating.

On Fox, Glee moved up a tenth of a ratings point to a 4.6 adults 18-49 rating. Raising Hope held steady with a 2.6 rating, but Running Wilde kept falling too, down 17% to a 1.5 rating

Ratings for last night's episode "Grilled Cheesus"

"Glee" took a bit of a tumble from its Britney-fueled heights last week, but it was still the most watched show last night in the demo ratings.

8 p.m.

CBS: "NCIS" (19.5 million viewers, 11.8/19)
FOX: "Glee" (11 million, 6.5/10)
ABC: "No Ordinary Family" (8.9 million, 5.3/9)
NBC: "The Biggest Loser" (6.5 million, 4.0/6)
The CW: "One Tree Hill" (2 million, 1.3/2)

18-49 leader: "Glee" (4.5)

Britney Spears Episode Breaks 'Glee' Ratings Record



Last night’s Britney Spears episode of Glee broke ratings records for the hit show!

“Britney/Brittany” brought in 13.3 million viewers to FOX on Tuesday (September 28). That’s a 4% increase from the premiere and the highest rating ever for the show!

'Glee' is Tuesday ratings winner!

Which Tuesday night shows were popular with viewers?



Glee came roaring back in a new time slot with its third-biggest audience - 12.3 million viewers, which is also its biggest audience without an American Idol lead-in. In addition, it was the top show of the night among young-adult viewers, reports USA TODAY's Gary Levin.
